On the day of the 2018 ‘big game’, my children spent as much time watching the Puppy Bowl as they did watching the football game. One of the adds that ran was for a show on Animal Planet called The Zoo. As fast as they were allowed, they watched every episode of the first two seasons–several times. They loved every minute. As reality tv goes, I must say, this show avoids manufactured drama and lets the every-day-events of the zoo staff and the zoo animals carry the show. By the end of March it was quite clear, we needed to plan a family vacation to New York.
Along with a day at the zoo, we visited my favorite camera store in the whole world–B&H Photo, ate New York pizza–which was really good, wandered through Times Square, saw the Statue of Liberty and visited the 911 Memorial. It was a wonderful trip.
